Kingdom Hospital

Red Dragon Tattoo (LP Version) - Adam Schelsinger

Ah Netflix...you got to love Netflix.

Red Dragon Tattoo by Fountains of Wayne...awesome song, I had heard it before but had forgotten about it until I heard it being played on Kingdom Hospital. Yeah, so I rented Kingdom Hospital from Netflix since when it was on television I was working at night and did not get a chance to see it.

I love it! I especially enjoy the references to other King novels and such that are in it. Its amazing to me how much of the things he has written tie into the Gunslinger saga. I am just in awe of the man really.

Gonna have to figure out how Ian does the whole music thing on his blog so I can start adding some of my eclectic taste in music on here for the masses that are not reading my stuff! Oh well, hopefully things will pick up since I am actively blogging now. I figured it out!

I am excited about NaNoWriMo, I have my basic plot swirling around in my head now. Still trying to work out the particulars but I know it begins with an event just after the Civil War in the South somewhere. I like it really, I ran some ofthe basics by my wife and father and they both seemed to really like it and get excitied by the possibilities. Now all I have to do is write it..should be fun!

Getting Better...

Well I spend the day working on my lessons for the next week and reorganizing myself for school. I actually think that I made a big difference in how things will go for the next 9 weeks. I feel more prepared now, so much more than I did for the first 9 weeks.

I am trying to figure out what I am going to do with my classroom website. I don't think any of the kids have even looked at it so I want to spice it up a bit. I have a few ideas, but I am always looking for more!

So, what would you want to see on a classroom website that would draw you there? It having content about the topics we are working on is a given, but in today's society there has to be more, some sort of entertainment to draw the students to it so that they want to check it out and see if anything is different.

So Ideas?????

NaNoWriMo - I think I can, I think I can...

Well I checked into the NaNoWriMo experience about 5 years ago and at the time I was getting back into the swing of college full time so I passed. This year though, I am all about it.

There are the details: You write a 50,000 word story in a month. If you make it you are a winner, if you don't then at least you tried. There seems to be an active community there and the forums on the website seem to be fairly active considering that the event hasn't started yet.

Sorry about the previous post, looking back on it now I seem kind of whiny. Oh well, it happens.

Anyway, back to the writing thing. I am debating what kind of story to tell. Science Fiction type or Fantasy type. I have been digging SF for a the last couple of years, but the majority of my reading has been Fantasy. Maybe I can combine the two in some way with elements of SF and Fantasy tossed together.

I have 13 days to figure this out and start writing. I think that if I sit down and just start something will click. Then I can sit down and semi-plan the monstrosity. I think it will be fun regardless, hell it might just end up being a load of crap and make no sense at all, that would be ok. Its the writing the 50,000 words thats the goal in some simbalence of order.

Possiblities are endless...

In the center of the storm

I am amazed that it has been so long since I posted last.

You ever feel like you are stuck in the middle of a swirling, tumbling tornado? Well let me tell you that at this moment thats what it feels like. Its like I can't get my head above water long enough to take a breath much less start to tred the waters. Financially we are sucking eggs at this point.

I know that part of it is that fact that we are paying private school tuition for our son, but that is unavoidable. Its pretty sad that teachers in the public school system are paying to send their child to a private school so that he can actually be taught what he is supposed to know! It is so frustrating but its what we have to do in the interest of our son.

I went out today and put out some applications for part time work. I figure I might hear something in a couple of weeks but we will see. I am not that optimistic to be honest since the economy seems to be tanking. It hasn't really started to hit the area I live in yet but I can see it on the horizon. I just need a bit of a parachute to provide us some hesitation in this seemingly downward spiral of financial hardship.

I am not in school anymore. I got admitted to the Master's program I wanted to get into but with the gas prices earlier this year and my wife taking classes for additional certification we decided that I needed to sit out a bit. It sucks because at 32 I feel like I am so far behind others in my field that its not even funny. Bleh, perhaps I am just a bit down at the moment but what the hell right?

I do know that something has got to change. Moving would be a nice change I think. My wife and I have been talking about that a lot. If we can make it over the holidays without something else happening to our finances I think we might be able to make a move in the summer but I am not sure. Also the job outlook has to be right or its a no go, once again thanks to the economy. I am glad I am a teacher, we are almost recession proof as a profession. Kids got to learn!

27 weeks of school left in the year, doesn't seem so many really. This first 9 weeks has flown by. Hopefully the next nine will as well and we can enjoy our Christmas holidays.

Hey, anything is possible right? Right!
