Big Sigh

So today is the 18th of April. My Birthday is in 6 days. I will be 31. You know I remember when 31 used to seem so old to me. Now its just... me. Its amazing really, I don't think I see the world a whole lot different than I did when I was 11 or 12. Sure I know more about stuff and I have experienced more but my overall view of the world has changed in only one major way.

I see the world from about 2 feet higher.

I turned in my 24 page paper. I ended up with 299 endnotes, the paper was 37 pages all told. My paper was the only one that the professor actually took, the rest he returned for various reasons. Mainly he returned them because they did not follow his guidelines, but hey its not like he gave us a sign off sheet with all the criteria or anything (yes, that last statement is dripping with sarcasm).

I got into another Master's program that will allow me to work as a teacher while I finish my degree. So about May of 2008 I should have my Teacher's License and my Masters. Then it is time for a short break, and then I shall start on the PhD material.

The only problem I have, and its really not a problem, is that I will have to leave the fire department. The job gets old after a bit and the things you miss like birthdays, holidays, etc. etc. tend to be events that you really wanted to go to and that you kind of regret not being at, at least for me that is. I will miss the people I work with and the actual job itself.

I love tossing on an airpack and running into a burning building, there is nothing like it in the world.

Oh well, school is almost over again and I have to say that this semester has been exhausting with everything going on with school, work and family. I will be glad for summer, especially now that I have my fence up - now if I could just find my camera so that I could post the pictures I took...

What? I'm supposed to keep this thing up?

Ok, Ok. I know I have not been a good little blogger over the past month, but I have a good excuse.

Well my mentor says that the effective range of an excuse is zero meters so I really don't have an excuse, more of an explanation.

SCHOOL!!!

I have been working my butt off on school papers and other school related fun and exciting stuff like the research symposium I had to present at which really sucked but go figure.

I am in the process of finishing up my 20 page paper on the War of 1812, I hope to have it done by Wednesday so that my instructor can critique it and offer suggestions before I turn in the final draft on the 18th.

Besides that I did get some good news. I passed my Praxis II test so hopefully I will be getting into the Master's program at the University of Arkansas at Monticello (link here) I am trying to get into their Master of Arts in Teaching program and the Praxis II was the last hurtle.

So lock up your kiddies and begin the home school revolution as I will be teaching in the fall (hopefully).

So anyway I am really, really busy but I promise as of April 25th I will be doing my best to blog and blog and read and blog.

The day after April Fools

What can I say. I am sitting at home reading news stuff online when I get a call on my cell phone.

"Hey Daddy, we are in Little Rock." My son's voice comes thorugh the phone sounding all innocent and stuff. Meanwhile I am thinking they should be almost home now, what are they doing in Little Rock still?

"Hey Daddy, April Fools! We are almost home, Mommy says two more miles." I had to laugh, he is only 5 after all. From there it was one thing after another and always followed by April Fools!

April Fools day is also my sisters anniversary. Tried to call her and her husband twice, but no answer. Finally got a hold of her today. What's that old saying....

April showers bring May flowers. Yeah and I think we got an inch and a half Saturday when it rained. Even though it was still March I am going to consider it April.
